In the Fall of 1961, a small group of men concerned with the needs of our Senior Citizens of the community asked themselves, "Why not a Home in OUR town?"
They visited many established retirement and nursing homes to obtain first hand information about methods of financing, management and construction of these homes.
With mounting enthusiasm, the ideas and plans developed and were formulated. A large representative group of citizens convened at which time they drew up articles of incorporation and formed a board which consisted of three members from each of the six area churches. This board was assigned with the responsibility of promoting the building of a combined Retirement Home and Infirmary. The task completed at an overall cost of $320,000 by January, 1964!
